I have the original Dewi Driegen collage, and I can tell you this is a great improvement! You got rid of the other little guy, the one that hand his hand on her shoulder (I kinda thought the hand was a bit too small— not that it stopped me from liking it enough to save it). I like this image much better, because:
1. Eye contact. She's looking down, and he's looking up. Man, it doesn't get much better than that as far as those gazes connecting goes.
2. Skin contact. That curled hand of hers is perfect for cupping the tiny top of his head, and it was quite empty in the first version.
3. The background is the perfect romantic complement for the emotional content of this collage. He's smiling, her mouth seems to follow suit if a bit more subtly.
The only thing I don't like about this entry is that you didn't write a thousand words or more to accompany the collage. Bad trinket! Bad! :D
But thank you for being pleased about the other stuff. \(^_^)/
The first version you refer to was one of my earliest, I think definitely in the first ten, and it showed. Lousy hand, clumsy shadows. I nearly threw it out later but then I decided it could be modified into something better and I'm quite happy with the results.
As for writing a thousand words, it takes way more effort for me to do that than to hack away at Photoshop. I'll write more, I just need to make myself do it.

Sigh, you can't please everyone all of the time.
